Our Story: From “Normal” to Homesteaders

Hey there, I’m Traci—the heart and hands behind Mad Horse Homestead. Our story began with us living in town, enjoying the “normal” family life that millions of people live. But we knew we wanted more. More space, more freedom, more health and more happiness.

We started Mad Horse Farms from scratch, where every endeavor has been a labor of love and hard work. From a bare field surrounded by pine trees to a home surrounded by a vegetable garden, a cut flower field for flower bouquet subscriptions, and a diverse array of animals — our farm has always been a testament to the beauty of nature’s bounty. We’ve gone from public schools to homeschooling our children all the way through high school.

As a mother and passionate homesteader, I understand the desire to create a home that thrives on self-sufficiency and sustainability. Mad Horse Homestead was born from this passion, aiming to share the knowledge and experiences gained over the years with other stay-at-home moms aspiring to cultivate their own homesteading journey.
